Jouer Highlighter : Tiare - Queen Of Highlighters

I cant believe I hadn't blogged about one of my most favorite highlighters yet ! I realized this only when a reader had written asking for recommendations on highlighters and I wrote to her about Jouer. I've had it for a long time and I really don't know how I missed a post on it ! I really wasn't intending to keep it from you guys . Of course not ! Makeup discoveries are meant to be shared just like that Snickers bar in your hand. Pass me that , will ya .


Its Delicate & Subtle
Ladies this is the queen of my highlighters stash. Its weightless , sophisticated, refined and sauve. Tiare is a light shimmery gold in the pan. Notice the words in the pan because on the face it turns to a delicate angel like glow that looks like its coming right out of your cheeks. I'd say its a must have for brides. Who doesn't wanna look angelic on THE day ! But then again the delicate glow does not translate as well in photos ...so...

It is definitely one of the most elegant highlighters out there . Though so subtle it does make a difference on my face. Usually I apply it with my fingers just rubbing a bit on top of my cheeks and along the bridge of my nose. But off late I have been using the makeup wedges. I dampen them a bit, squeeze out the water and use it to spread the highlighter on my cheeks using dabbing motions. Works wonders ! The wedges cost a $ at Big Lots.

Rock & Republic Classic Tinted Primer SPF 20 : Review

Rock & Republic, SPF 20 and a Matte finish. Now tell me how am I suppose to keep away from trying this stuff ! The lack of shades could have stopped me but Sophia was right up my alley ! Now tell me again, how am I suppose to keep away from trying this stuff !! I'm only human you know. And one without a tinted primer at that.

Sheer & Light

The Rock & Republic Tinted Primer ($46) is made for summers like these and people like me. If the thought of makeup repulses you with the rising mercury then its time you became best friends with super sheer, matte, light formulas like this one. When I tried Becca Luminous Skin Colour I left like nothing could be lighter but clearly there is and it comes in a classic black bottle ! I love the feeling of not feeling it on my face. Plenty of women don't wear makeup even if they wanted to because of the heavy nature of it. Formulas like these can get anybody comfortable with the idea ! It evens out my face, balances the red on my cheeks and gives me some overall color. Its not one for coverage of any kind.

Another important thing is that its silicone free. A silicone free primer !

Even & Smooth

And since its a primer, it leaves my face feeling soft and even ! I usually don't apply powder on top but if you wanted to , it makes a perfect smooth base for powder application. Also when they say matte , I think they mean - not shiny or glowy. Because its not super matte. It does not look dry and powdery. Its just not glowy or shiny and is very natural looking. The only catch is the lack of shades. Its sheer so you can try and fit into one of the four but there is only so much fitting one can do. I hope they expand their line with more shades so many more women can get experimenting on this good stuff !

Glossy Wet Looking Sexy Bright Eye Look

Yea, that's the best description I could come up with. And yea, its all that !

I love how models get their eyes looking all glossy and wet on the runways. They probably use Vaseline or oil. In everyday life imagine either of those on your lids !!! Two words - NO WAY !

No way am I making my lids any more oily than they are. So I came up with my own version of the Glossy Wet Looking Sexy Bright Eye Look. All I did was this. I applied Julie Hewett Shimmy in Goldie all over the lid concentrating on the inner corner to help brighten the eye area. Apply a nude or white pencil along the lower lash line (don't over do this part). I think I used N.Y.C white eyeliner pencil. Follow up with some mascara.

Julie Hewett Thandie Lipstick : A Bit Of Thandie Newton For You

Its tough not to like Thandie Newton. She is smart, sexy and is a great actress ! I like her; So does famous Makeup Artist Julie Hewett. And that's why she named this brilliant shade after Thandie Newton. It also happens to be a shade the actress really likes ! Same here, Thandie -I adore the shade too ! May be we could meet up for coffee and talk beauty forever ! I know I'd love that !


Thandie is a lipstick that dresses up any outfit ! I was meeting my friend at Subway for a late night dinner and the moment she saw my lipstick she asked " What's the occasion ? Its only Subway !" That's the effect it has ! I have written about several shades that look good on a variety of skin tones. But this one is a shade that will look brilliant on almost everybody ! It makes any occasion a special one. Okay so what exactly is the shade ? A sheer red with hints of gold. Now tell me, if that aint classy ...what is !!

NOTE FOR DESI GIRLS : Remember we talked about lipsticks that go with Desi clothes ? You can find a bunch of them here. But Thandie tops it all. Womenfolk will gather around wondering what it is you are wearing coz its so gorgeous. Trust me , will ya ! If there is one thing I know - its lipsticks.
