John Frieda Root Awakening Nourishing Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Happy New Year !

Happppppppy New Year !

Happy Neeeeeeeeeeeew Year !

How do you say it ?

I'm more the Haaaaaaaaaaaaaapy New Year types.

Unless of course I feel like a Happy Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew Year. Then I just say that.

How many of you stayed in welcoming the new year ?

I did. I stayed in, tucked under blankets catching up on episodes of The City. And just so I don't feel totally like a loser I wish someone else says they did too. Go on say it. Its the new year, make a good girl feel better...

I really don't know how much more longer I can refer to myself as girl. I'll be 26 in eight days. Indian Lady just has a very weird tone to it. Oh yes, I know, you know what I mean. Lady...

Anyways while I sat at home all bundled up I had something shiny to be happy about among other things. So happy that I even tweeted about it.

My hair.
My hair was awesome.
Totally awesome.
Totally awesome in a Jennifer Aniston kinda way.

I've been using The John Frieda Root Awakening Nourishing Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner for Dry Hair. The shampoo & conditioner contain Eucalyptus & Peppermint Oils that add a blast of life to my hair and scalp. The peppermint isn't very strong so I'm not left shivering in the shower. And the scent of eucalyptus reminds me of when I was ten. My school was surrounded with eucalyptus trees and its amazing scent ! So calm and refreshing...

Zero Frizz Y'all !

The conditioner is good. Very good actually. But the real hero is the shampoo. Twice I went without using the conditioner and my hair still felt good. I never go without using a conditioner. Haven't in over ten years but just after cleansing with the shampoo my hair was already feeling good. So I got out. There was a little frizz that I had to take care of but other wise it is brilliant !

With the conditioner I have zero frizz. This is a first for me. I didn't have to set my hair or my bangs. Everything just fell into place on its own. That's big given how much hair I have on my head.

Winter Flakes

Before I started on this John Frieda shampoo, I'd been having an issue with dry scalp.A dose of Nizoral, couple of times took care of it. I wanted to throw this in because its winter and a lot you could be facing some unwanted flakes. On my dry scalp this pair of shampoo & conditioner worked well to restore its moisture and has kept me flake free. I haven't had to use Nizoral for weeks now ! Give it a try if you've been having similar issues.

Complete With A Downside

This is one of the most complete shampoos I've tried in a long time. Softness, shine, no frizz, soothing scent, refreshing, non drying - great on all fronts !

Except on the quantity. We only get 8.45 fl.oz for $6.99. Most other drugstore shampoos come in nearly 12.5 fl.oz packs. I'm gonna see if Costco carries one of those humongous sizes of this one. Will let you know if I find it.

As for 2010, this is my year.

I entered 2010 with great hair. You know what they say right ? Anything that happens on the first day of New Year will continue happening all year long. Any year that begins with great hair is going to be a great year !

Y'all agree ?

Love,
Indian Girl

Hansika Motvani in high class gym

When I ask people why they don’t workout, one of the most common excuses I hear is: “I have no time.” For those who actually do go to the gym, many want to get in and out as quickly as possible. In today’s society, time is of the essence.

Unfortunately, people waste a lot of time on exercises that have little fitness value. If you are doing any of the following exercises, you could be squandering valuable gym-time on movements that aren’t helping you achieve your fitness goals. Read on to learn why you should skip them and which alternate exercises will give you much better results.
Exercise Time-Wasters
1. Inner/outer thigh machine - only limited amount of leg is worked

This is one of the most popular exercise machines at the gym for ladies who want to tone up their inner and outer thighs. The waiting line is usually a mile long, as women do hundreds of repetitions to achieve leaner legs. What they don’t realize is that because of the design of this machine and limited range of motion, they are really only working a very small portion of their legs.

* Tip: To get better overall results, perform lunges and/or squats, and eliminate this exercise from your workout altogether. You are much better off hitting your inner and outer thighs during those exercises, than spending 15 minutes on this machine. Just because everybody is doing it, doesn’t mean it is right. Be brave and challenge yourself and I guarantee you’ll love the results.

2. Sitting abdominal crunch machine - more effective to do floor exercises

As a personal trainer, even I do not know what the official name of this machine is, but it is at every gym. In general, exercise machine have a limited range of motion—which limits their results. And this machine is no exception. It does not target the abdominal muscles effectively.

* Tip: Skip this machine and grab a mat. Floor exercises—such as abdominal crunches, reverse crunches, or toe reaches—that are done in a slow and controlled manner are a much better use of your time.

3. Side bends don't help slim your waist

My wife was just asking me about these the other day because she wanted to slim her waist. Beware: Side bends don’t help! All they do is build muscle and push your body fat out further, accentuating your love handles! That’s not what you want, right? The obliques are small muscles, so just a little stimulation really develops them.

* Tip: To eliminate the extra fat around your obliques, watch your diet and burn off your body fat with aerobic exercise. Then, utilize abdominal exercises to indirectly work your obliques. This is a much better approach to eliminating your love handles than doing side bends.

4. Russian twists are a good warm-up exercise, but no more

During this exercise, you stand with a broomstick on your shoulders behind your head and twist side to side. As a warm-up, this movement is fine, but as an exercise to reduce your love handles—no. It doesn’t do anything.

* Tip: Try some stomach exercises that exercise your obliques.

5. Lat pull-down behind the head must be done correctly to be of benefit

If done correctly, this isn’t a useless exercise. However, studies have shown that if done improperly this exercise can cause serious damage to your rotator cuffs. To avoid damage, you must do it absolutely perfectly (which hardly anyone ever does).

* Tip: To get the same benefit for your back (and avoid damaging your shoulder muscles), pull the bar down in front of you.

If you want your gym-time to be quality time, avoid these exercises and practice safe and effective alternatives. I promise that you’ll achieve your fitness goals a lot more quickly and efficiently.

A churidar is a long fitting pyjama worn by the North Indian groom. Churidars are usually fine muslins or cottons, white in color. The traditional churidar is tied with a nara at the waist. New variants come with an elastic, and do away with the hassle of tying the knot (of the nara, i.e)! What is special about them is that they are longer than the legs. Their extremes are crinkled and crumpled to fit. Creases thus developed resemble 'churis' or bangles, hence the name churidars. A churidar is a perfect accompaniment to long kurtas and sherwanis.

The Kurta or the top is a knee length colarless shirt which is adorned inmostly white or pastel colors. But today you will find Kurtas made out of the most wonderful and colorful of fabrics. Pyjama-are like loose trousers with a string tie at the waist. Traditionally white in color.
